Louis F. Potera's Obituary
Louis F. Potera, 93, of Clifton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 7, 2015. Born in Dupont, PA, he lived in Passaic before moving to Clifton many years ago.
A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Louis was a Machinst for Teledyne Powder Alloy, Clifton, for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. A recipient of two Purple Hearts, Louis was a US Marines Veteran during WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater at Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Bougenville and New Guinea. A talented accordion player, Louis entertained troops during WW II, and later his family.
Beloved husband of the late Josephine "Tillie" (Gregorek). Devoted father of Linda Mara and her husband Edward of Wayne, and Nancy Hammer and her husband Edward of Succasunna. Loving grandfather of Ryan, Jason and Dylan. Dear brother of Julia Rater of Clifton, and the late Ted and Katherine Potera. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Friday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Thursday 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
