Louis Anastasia passed away at the age of 95 on March 8, 2023, at his home in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where he lived for more than 54 years. Louis was born in Manhattan in New York City in 1928. He attended City College in Manhattan and earned his bachelor's degree in engineering. In his professional life, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Picatinny Arsenal for 32 years before retiring in 1997.
Louis is survived by his devoted wife of 54½ years, Helen (née Gialini), his four children Orestes, Euphemia (Mia) and her husband Stanley Sedwick III, Sophia and her husband Nicholas Tzavaras, and Eleonora and her husband Sima Sciopu. His beloved eight grandchildren are Julianna, Stephanie, Rita, Eleni, Alexa, Daphne, George, and Lukas.
Louis had a long and happy life. He was deeply loved, a respected husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and uncle. He was a kind family man, always there for help and advice. He knew no strangers and was always friendly with everyone. He was ever faithful and devoted to Helen from the day they met and, because of her, he was eager and happy to stay close to his Greek roots, his faith, and Greek culture and traditions. Louis was very loving to all his four children and eight grandchildren. He felt truly blessed to be surrounded by his family, who were always very close to him, and by his side to his very last breath. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling, skiing, sailing, singing, and was a great dancer. In retirement, gardening gave him much pleasure. He was always interested in science and astronomy, and was also very skilled and talented in creating beautiful woodcrafts.
Private services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
