Loretta (Snyder) Hochmuth, 87, of Clifton passed away on Jan. 16, 2023. She was born in Passaic on July 13, 1935 to Frank and Agnus Snyder. She enjoyed socializing with friends and was very active in her community and church. A member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church for over 70 years, Loretta was very involved in nearly every aspect of the church and was a member of the St. Peter's Vestry Board and their Altar Guild. She also loved to participate in events, fundraisers and bus trips and attend local concerts.
Loretta was a crossing guard for many years near School #3, Clifton, where she also served as HSA President, and later worked as a clerk in the Passaic County Courthouse. After retiring, she spent time volunteering in her church and gathering with friends and family.
Loretta was proud to receive the David Hegg II Lifetime Achievement Award and was a member of the Clifton Republican Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Allwood Woman's Club, Jubilee Jewels Club, Clifton's 75 th Anniversary Committee, Red Hatter's Club, the Ladies of the Moose and she was a Girl Scout Leader. She also often volunteered at St. Peter's Haven and was a board member there for some years.
Devoted wife of the late Eugene Hochmuth, whom she shared many happy years with until his passing in 1977. Beloved mother of Eugene Hochmuth and his wife Lisa of Mount Pocono, PA, Alison Bogatch of Clifton and Erich Hochmuth of Port St. Lucie, FL. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Danielle, Payton and Jason. Dear sister of Viola Bakker. She will also be missed by her special nephew, Richie, as well as extended family members, church family and many wonderful friends.
Visiting Monday 3-7 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Tuesday 11AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 380 Clifton Ave. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Loretta's memory to St. Peter's Haven, 380 Clifton Ave., Clifton, NJ 07011, www.SaintPetersHaven.org , would be greatly appreciated.
