Clifton City Councilwoman Lauren E. Murphy, 69, of Clifton, passed away on January 13, 2024. Born in Passaic, she lived in Garfield and Paterson before moving to Clifton in 2006.

The Executive Director of the Passaic County One Stop Career Center in Paterson for over 10 years, Lauren had also been an Administrator for the Passaic County Board of Social Services, where she worked for 34 years. Elected to the Clifton City Council in 2014, Lauren was the President of the Clifton Democratic Club.

Beloved mother of Joseph Potenza and his wife Jeanine of Hackensack, Jasmine Blesing and her husband Eric of Wayne, and Jacob Durham of Clifton. Loving grandmother of Mackenzie, Rowan, Joseph "Bubba", Anthony "AJ", and Aubrey. Dear life partner of Chairman John Currie. Cherished sister of Deborah Previto of Mississippi.

Visiting Wednesday, January 17, 2024, 4-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Thursday, January 18, 2024, 10 AM at the funeral home. Cremation, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
