Lauren Jo Dempsey, 65, of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away on October 25, 2026, following a courageous two-year battle with breast cancer. Born and raised a Jersey girl, Lauren grew up in River Edge before making her home in Clifton. She spent 35 years at Hackensack University Medical Center, where she built a career in the Sleep Lab and ultimately became Operations Director. Her commitment to caring for others was evident throughout her life, both in her work and in the way she showed up for the people closest to her. Lauren was an active member of the community at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, where she played in the Bell Choir.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoyed time with her horse, doting on her beloved pugs and rescue dogs, relaxing at the beach, and getting lost in a good book. She loved traveling with her sister and making memories with her family. Her niece and nephew held a special place in her heart, and she took pride in being part of their lives. Whether cheering them on, hosting sleepovers, or lending a hand, Lauren made sure they knew they could count on her.
She found happiness in giving to others.
Lauren will be remembered for her generous spirit, love of animals, and the deep affection she had for her family. She found meaning in everyday moments with the people she loved and made those moments memorable. The love and devotion she gave so freely will live on in the lives she touched.
Lauren was the beloved daughter of the late Stephen Sr. and Josephine Dempsey; loving sister of Diane Dempsey, Michele Dempsey, Stephen Dempsey Jr. and his wife, Diana, and the late Gregory Dempsey; and dear aunt of Stephen III and her goddaughter, Katherine. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Memorial Mass: November 21, 2026, at 11:30AM at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton, NJ.
