Kurt H. Dechert, Jr., 64, of Clifton, passed away on June 30, 2014. Born in Hackensack, he was raised in Passaic and has been a resident of Clifton for the past 24 years. A Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War, Kurt was a member of the Athenia Veterans Post, Clifton, and a former member of the Carlstadt American Legion Post and the Clifton Moose Lodge. Kurt was a Fork Lift Operator for Bay State Milling in Clifton for over 17 years, retiring in 2007, and was an avid bowler and fisherman. Beloved father of Kevin J. of Clifton, and Robert J. and his wife Lindsey of Caldwell. Devoted longtime companion of Mary Wojtach. Loving grandfather of Adriana, Kayleen, Xavier, Sean, Machayla and Caleb. Dear brother of the late Diane Mariconda who passed away in 2009. Memorial Gathering Sunday, 2-5 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Athenia Veterans Post, 147 Huron Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013, in memory of Kurt, would be greatly appreciated.
