Kenneth J. Walters, Sr., 72, of Clifton and Ortley Beach, passed away on June 4, 2015. Born in Newark, he was a resident of Harrison before moving to Clifton and Ortley Beach many years ago. A parishioner of St. Clare's RC Church, Clifton, Ken was a Toll Collector for the NJ Turnpike Authority for 30 years, retiring in 2002. An Army Veteran during the Vietnam War, Ken was a member of the Albion VFW Post #7185, Clifton, and for many years would volunteer at the NJ Veteran's Memorial Home in Paramus, hosting the Wednesday Cocktail-Cookie Hour where he was known as "The Cookie Man". An avid fisherman, Ken was Past President of the Lakeview AARP Chapter #1995, Clifton, enjoyed bowling with the NJ Turnpike Bowling League and the Lakeview AARP Bowling League, and was a past Scoutmaster for St. Andrew's Troop # 23. Beloved husband for 50 years of Barbara A. (Moncavage). Devoted father of Kenneth, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Oak Ridge, and Joseph of Boonton. Loving grandfather of Matthew, Jessica and Sarah. Sadly missed by his canine companion, "Bella". Funeral Monday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Clare's RC Church, Clifton. Cremation, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Sunday 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
