Kanchanlal T. Rana, 82 years old, passed away on Sunday April 16th, 2023. Born in Navsari, India, on October 22nd 1940, he is the fourth eldest of eleven children of Thakordas Makanji Rana and Diwaliben Thakorbhai Rana. Kanchanlal graduated as an electrical engineer in Surat, India. He obtained his first job working on an electric grid plant. In 1972, he met his dear wife Shila and the two married in Surat, India.  Shortly, thereafter, in 1973, he was granted a work visa for employment in the United States.  He was excited to have this opportunity. With a stopover in London, England to visit with his elder brother, he arrived in Chicago but then moved to New Jersey and decided to this was the place to settle.

He was granted citizenship in 1978 and then filed to immigration status for all of his brothers and sister and their respective families. Kanchanlal valued family, and always had an open invitation to his home for family and friends. His ultimate joy was when everyone was gathered together. He was the proud grandfather of his beautiful grandchildren, Sierra, Armaan, MiraBella and Norah who brought him joy every day.

Kanchanlal Rana was a beloved father to his two surviving children Dr. Samir Rana and his spouse Maggie Rana and daughter, Dr. Tejal Kamdar and her spouse Kapil Kamdar and beloved husband of Shila. He will be missed by his loving brothers, sister, nieces and nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.

Visitation Monday, April 17, 2023 from 6-8PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral services on Tuesday 9-11AM at the funeral home. Cremation to follow at 11:30AM at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton.
