Obituary

Julius George Mizdal, 92, of Clifton passed away on October 30, 2012. Born in Passaic, Julius was raised in Wallington before moving to Clifton in 1947. An Army veteran of WWII, Julius was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and, as part of the 692nd Tank Destroyer Battalion, helped repel the final German offensive at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium in 1944. He was also a part of the liberation of Dachau, one of the most notorious death camps of WWII. Proud of his military service, Julius was a member of the Wallington VFW and a Trustee of the Athenia Veteran's Post, Clifton. Julius worked as a Machinist for Merrick Scale, Clifton, for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Beloved husband for 65 years of Julia (Hreno). Devoted father of Debbie Schwartzbard and her husband Alan. Cherished grandfather of Owen. Dear brother of Anthony, Eugene, Emil and the late Louis, Emily and Helen. Funeral Friday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton and 10 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
