Joseph Pipitone, 101, of Clifton passed away on May 20, 2013. Born and raised in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, Joseph lived in Passaic for 27 years before moving to Clifton 37 years ago. A proud Navy Veteran of WWII, Joseph served with the 103rd Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the SeaBees, in the Pacific Theater, and specifically on the island of Guam during the War. Joseph worked as a Baker for most of his life, a trade he learned in the Navy, and retired at the age of 88. A kind, patient, and compassionate man, Joseph cared for his wife at home during her 16 year battle with Alzheimer's and was a founding member of the Alzheimer's Family Support Group, Clifton. Beloved husband of the late Josephine (Messineo), who passed away in 1985. Devoted father of Camille Pipitone of Clifton. Dear brother of the late Vincent, Mamie Verdibello, Josephine Spadoni, and Rose Assande. Funeral Service Friday 10 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting Thursday 4-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
