Joseph Edward LaJeunesse, 79 of Garfield, passed away on September 17, 2026. Born in Uniontown, PA, he was raised by a single mom, who raised him into a kind, loving and hard working man. Joe worked his way up to be Vice President of a can company, something today a young man couldn't do without a college degree. After retiring, he then worked for Home Depot and stayed there for almost 15 years.

It was in grade school Joe met Michele, and they became sweethearts during their teen years. They were married on May 30, 1970 at Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church, followed by a honeymoon to Aruba and Curacao. Their marriage was marked by love, enduring loyalty and profound devotion. Their bond would span 56 years, built on respect, constant support and a deep affection that was obvious to all who knew them.

Joe maintained long friendships and left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loyal friend and for his integrity, warmth, and unmatched wisdom and wit.

He loved to fish with dear friends, Tony and Karen, and he loved to watch his favorite team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. He once took a trip to a game with cousins and said that if he comes back in another life, that he would want to come back as an 18 year old freshman and attend Alabama.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Michele, and his extended family and friends.

A Memorial Mass for Joe will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, 2026, 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church, 188 MacArthur Ave., Garfield.
