Joseph Kozielski, Jr. "Joe", 70, died Friday October 24, 2014 at the Anne Arudel Medical Center, Annapolis Maryland. Born in Clifton N.J., he was an avid traveler, gardener, fisherman and hunter spending his last years fishing and crabbing in Pine Island, Florida, gardening in Waxhaw, North Carolina, wildlife watching in Annapolis, Maryland roaming the countryside in Vancouver Island, British Columbia and travelling to find those 70 degree days, his motto "All Who Wander are Not Lost". He always wanted to be one with nature and now can run with the Whitetail Deer, fly with the Eagles and swim with the Snook and Stripers. Joe proudly served as a firefighter with the Nutley Fire Department for 25 years, he was a skilled craftsman and the proprietor of Christie Construction Company in Clifton for 40 years. He was an avid softball player and enjoyed playing catcher and running the bases in the Nutley Fast Pitch League with his brother Phil. Joe was husband to Candace Kozielski; father and friend to Christie and Andrew Martinez, Joseph C. Kozielski, Jennifer and Douglas Gentles, Meredith and Joel Esposito and Alexa and Liam McDermott-Doviak. He was known as Papa Joe to seven grandchildren Disa, Taylor, Giacamo, Violet, John, Margaret and Abby and one great grand child, Wyatt; and was the loving brother of Philip and Linda Kozielski, Karen and Bob Kovaly, Mary Ann Askera and was pre deceased by Peck and Joan Kozielski. Funeral Wednesday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Cremation, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Nature Conservancy, www.nature.org., in memory of Joe, would be greatly appreciated.
