Joseph Galofaro, 95, of Clifton, passed away on December 31, 2021. Born in Passaic, he was a lifelong resident of Clifton.
A proud US Navy Veteran, Joseph served his country on the USS Tuscaloosa during WWII at the invasion of Normandy and the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. In 2016, he was awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal at the French Consulate in New York City. Also in 2016, Joe was the Grand Marshal for the Clifton Veteran's Day Parade on Van Houten Avenue.
A member of Local #274, United Association of Journeyman & Apprentices of the Plumbing & Pipe Fitting Industry of the US & Canada, Joe was an HVAC Technician for Correct Temp in Kenilworth and Monsen in Fairfield for over 25 years, retiring many years ago.
Beloved husband for 65 years, of the late Doris Ann (Diebler) who passed away in 2014. Devoted father of Joanne Anscher and her husband Richard of Swartswood Lake, Deborah Klopman and her husband Steven of Duanesburg, NY, and Arleen Franchini of Clifton. Loving grandfather of Jennifer, James, Juli, Steven, Sarah, Jonathan and Michael. Cherished great grandfather of Joseph, David, June, Elle, Gabby, Izzy, Blair, Steven and Adilee. Dear brother of the late Carmelo, Frank and Anthony.
Visiting Thursday, 5-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Military Honors will be presented at 7:45 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Clifton Avenue of Flags, 900 Clifton Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013, in memory of Joseph, would be greatly appreciated.
