Joseph J. Franek, Jr., 74, of Clifton, passed away on August 11, 2024. Born in Passaic, he was a lifelong resident of Clifton. A former parishioner of Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church, Clifton, Joe was a self-employed auto mechanic for over 50 years. Joe was selfless and would face danger to help others in need. He was willing to help anyone who needed it at any time. Joe had many close lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.

Beloved husband for 49 years of Darlene (Bordino) Franek. Devoted father of Joseph J. Franek, III, of Clifton. Dear brother of Gerald "Jerry" Franek and his wife Patricia of Oak Ridge. Cherished nephew of Aunt "Kitty" Van Dongen of FL. Loving uncle of Sherry Franek and her son Luke, and Mike Franek who were best friends and a buddy to him and will be sorely missed in his heart and in his life. Joe was an intricate part of his nephew Mike's drag racing hobby, being crew chief for many years at Island Dragway to cheer him on.  Dear brother-in-law of Ben "Butch" Bordino his lifelong buddy, and his wife Celeste of Totowa, and his daughter Anne Marie Lopez. Also survived by many cousins.

Services were private under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton.
