Joseph F.
Bednarz, Jr.
October 3, 1948 – March 1, 2017
Joseph F. Bednarz, Jr., 68, of Stroudsburg, PA, passed away on March 1, 2017. Born in Passaic, he lived in Wallington and Clifton, before moving to Pennsylvania.
Joe was a Product Assurance Engineer and Lead Quality Management Officer for the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunitions Systems, Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 2013. Joe spent the majority of his engineering career at the Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center working on various large caliber tank ammunition projects. He was widely known as an expert on fuzes.
Joe is remembered by his coworkers and family as a font of relevant and arcane facts.
A knowledgeable, kind and considerate person, Joe shared many gifts, one of which was his knowledge. He was like a human computer -- he could retrieve information on demand and always with a wry sense of humor. He was an intelligent and logical thinker with a big heart, compassion and selflessness. To this day, the file servers in Picatinny Arsenal still have folders called "Joe B's Favorites" and "Joe B's Library". He was extremely organized and just before he retired, left his coworkers with all the important documents needed to carry on his work, in an efficient and organized system of folders and sub folders. His coworkers expressed that in a perfect world, everyone in government service would have his qualities of knowledge, ethics and dedication.
Beloved son of Regina (Froncek) of Clifton and the late Joseph, Sr., who passed away in 2003. Devoted brother of Barbara Beauchamp of Clifton, Gregory and his wife Hope of Colonia, Lori Eberle and her husband Paul of W. Orange. Loving uncle of Nicole Wayland and her husband Chris, Justine Beauchamp and Luke Adelhelm.
Memorial Gathering Saturday 2-4 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Prayer Service at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations made to either VNA Hospice House, 412 E. Brown St., E. Stroudsburg, PA, 18301, or Jackson Twsp. Volunteer Fire Dept., Station #27, PO Box 215, Reeders, PA, 18352, in memory of Joseph, would be greatly appreciated.
