Joseph J. Baker, 50, of Newark, passed away on December 7, 2021. Born in Newark, he was a lifelong resident.

Joe proudly served his country and was a veteran of not only the US Marines, but also the US Army where he was a Combat Engineer. For many years, Joe was a Corrections Officer at the Northern State Prison in Newark.

Beloved husband of Tonya (Johnson) Baker. Loving son of the late Israel and Beulah Baker. Dear brother of Doreen Tanner of Newark, Saidiah Fullilove of Montclair, and Cynthia Morris of Staten Island. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting Wednesday 6-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment with Military Honors will be held privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
