Jose "Chino" Mercado, 63, of Clifton, passed away on April 20, 2021. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he came to the mainland in 1963 and lived in Passaic before moving to Clifton 10 years ago.

Chino proudly served in the US Army and was a truck driver for R.R.L Trucking in Teaneck for the past 25 years.

Beloved husband of Marta Texidor. Devoted father of Hector Luis Rivera, Jr. and his wife Yolanda of Clifton, and Nelson Net Rivera and his wife Loretta of Pennsylvania. Loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren. Dear brother of Carmen and Pedro Nieves, Sonia and Pablo Martinez, Maribel and Angel Martinez, Migdalia Martinez, Martin and Margery Olivero, Richard Olivero, Manuel Mercado, Ileane Mercado, and Carmen Elena Mercado.

Visiting Tuesday and Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Thursday 8:45 AM at the funeral home and 10 AM at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Passaic. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
