John Stopka, 89, of Passaic, passed away on January 21, 2016. Born in Skrzypne, Poland he lived in Maniowy, Poland, before coming to the US in 1963 and settled in Passaic.
A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, John was an Usher at the Polish Mass for many years. Before retiring in 2011, John was a High Pressure Boiler Engineer for the Passaic Industrial Center in Passaic, where he worked for 30 years.
Beloved husband for 60 years of the late Helena M. (Bator), who passed away in 2007. Devoted father of Andrew J. Stopka and his wife Rozalia of Lincoln Park, and Maria Bocian of Clifton. Loving grandfather of Barbara Czelej and her husband Marian, Richard Bocian and his wife Dorothy, and Diane Catalina and her husband Mark. Cherished great grandfather of Isabella and Cooper Bocian. Dear brother of Peter Stopka and his wife Zofia of Clifton, Maria Skubisz of Czerwienne, Poland, the late Stanley Stopka and his wife Sophie of Clifton, and the late Walter Stopka. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Monday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
