John Pereksta, 88, of Clifton, passed away on January 16, 2014. Born in Clifton, he was a lifelong resident. A Navy Veteran of WW II serving in the Pacific, John was a member of the American Legion. A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, John was a Supervisor for Leslie Co. in Parsippany for 35 years and later worked for the Passaic County Golf Course now Preakness Valley in Wayne for the past several years. Beloved husband for 57 years of Arlene (Latawiec). Devoted father of Donna Pereksta Luhn and The Honorable Darlene J. Pereksta, J.S.C.. Loving grandfather of Abigail Luhn. Loving brother of Sue Gogats and Olga Kumpf. Funeral Tuesday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
