John Richard Opalka's Obituary
John Richard Opalka, 73, of Matamoras, PA, passed away on May 29, 2018. Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton most of his life before moving to Pennsylvania in 2016.
A former parishioner of St. Brendan's RC Church, Clifton, John was a Lab Director for North Jersey Physicians, Clifton, for many years. John had also been a Lab Director for both Beth Israel Hospital and Passaic General Hospital, Passaic. A US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War, John was a member of the Milton American Legion Post #0423, Milton, NJ.

Beloved husband for 46 years of Elizabeth "Betty" (Blundell). Devoted father of Rosemarie Chromey and her husband William of North Haledon, Michele DeCiuceis and her husband Christopher of Stillwater, John Opalka and his wife Chelsee of Dingman's Ferry, PA, and Elizabeth Poplawski and her husband Edward of Clifton. Loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Dear brother of Joan Stout of Barnegat, Andrew Opalka of North Carolina, and the late Patricia Opalka.
Funeral Monday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Brendan's RC Church, Clifton. Cremation will be private. Visiting Sunday 2-6 PM at the funeral home. If desired, donations made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014, www.MichaelJFox.org , in memory of John, would be greatly appreciated.
