John S. Malenich, 69, of Forked River, passed away on August 31, 2017. Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton and Montclair for many years before moving to Forked River.
A parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic, John was a member of St. Michael's Holy Name Society, Passaic, and the Knights of Columbus, Rahway. John was a Civil Engineer for the State of NJ, Dept. of Transportation, in Trenton, for 35 years, retiring in 2004, and enjoyed photography. John was a 15 year member and former Captain of the Montclair Volunteer Ambulance Unit.
Devoted father of John and his wife Christine of Woodland Park, Mark of Kunia, Hawaii, and Andrea Malenich of Bordentown. Dear brother of Margaret Maio of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the late Elaine Hrehovcik. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Beloved longtime companion of Anne Becker. John loved all animals, especially his many dogs.
Funeral Friday, 8:15 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9:30 AM at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cathedral Chapel, Woodland Park. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
