III, 60, of Clifton fell asleep in the Lord on January 21, 2016. He was born in Passaic on April 12, 1955 and raised in Clifton where he graduated Clifton High School in 1973 and attended college afterward.
Since his youth, he enjoyed working daily at The Treat Restaurant, the Bacik's landmark eatery on Passaic's Eastside. This particular experience formed in him a profound passion for cooking. He loved music and began taking accordion lessons at the age of 4 and continued on this path later in life, forming The Lord Geoffrey Quartet which played music for all occasions at many local events. As an honor roll student he was actively involved with stage band as first alto saxophonist and served as file sergeant for the Mustang Marching Band.
He was a lifelong parishioner of SS. Peter & Paul RO Cathedral in Passaic, serving as their event chef and banquet manager for 20 years. John was a caring individual whose greatest joy came from preparing delicious home-cooked meals for others to enjoy. He was also intrigued with history and was an avid Jets fan.
He was predeceased by his parents, John, Jr. and Alice (nee Gusciora) Bacik and is survived by his siblings, Deborah (+Mark) Sancenito of Clifton, V. Rev. Fr. Lawrence (Marie) Bacik of MI and Richard (Erika) Bacik of RI. John is also survived by his nephews and nieces including, Alexander, Victoria, Nicholas, Richard and Ava and numerous relatives.
Visitation at Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, on Friday, January 29 from 2-4, 7-9 PM with Parastas at 7:30 PM. The Funeral will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul R.O. Cathedral, 200 Third St. Passaic, on Saturday, January 30 at 11 AM with interment at SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
