John A. Czop, 92, of Ridgewood, NJ, passed away November 3, 2010 in Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. Born January 1, 1918 in Garfield, John lived there before moving to Ridgewood in 1959. A graduate of Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA, John earned a BBA Degree from Pace University in NYC and was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corp, Lamp Division, Bloomfield, for 43 years before retiring. In 1942 John enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and served as a waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator with the 392nd Bombardment Group in Wendling, England and rose to the rank of Staff Sgt. He was a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society and Pavlick Koster VFW Post #2640, Wallington. A parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul's Polish National Catholic Church, Passaic, John was a member of the Polish National Union (Spojnia), the Polish National Alliance, and the Polish American Congress. Devoted husband for 60 years of Ann (Kozlowicz). Beloved father of John D, Diane McCafferty of Sandy Hook, CT. Loving grandfather of James and Elaine. Dear brother of Celia Glagola of Wayne, cherished brother in law of Stella K. Zak of Rutherford. Loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul's PNC Church, Passaic. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
