Obituary

JoAnn Grace Nouri (Monaco), 66, of Clifton passed away on January 4 th , 2023, peacefully and without any pain with her family by her side. For 18 months she bravely fought an aggressive brain cancer, glioblastoma, drawing strength from her family, who were with her every step of the way.

JoAnn was born on September 7 th , 1956, to Salvatore & Elizabeth Monaco in Newark, NJ. After JoAnn graduated Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair, she attended Kean University to become a teacher. She then met her former husband, Fred Nouri, who she had three children with, Maria, Freddie, and Robert.

Once her kids were independent, she had a career as a caregiver, which was a natural fit for her loving and warmhearted personality. She worked with so many grateful families that needed aid for their special needs children, disabled adults, senior parents & even their pets. In addition, she loved caring for and spending time with her grandkids who kept her forever young.

When she wasn't providing care, she was a fixture at the Clifton Veterans of Foreign Wars organization (VFW), passionately volunteering and fundraising for active and veteran soldiers. This local VFW group provided her with love and support while her army veteran son, Robert, was fighting in Iraq for 8 months. Her two favorite events were assembling care packages to ship to soldiers over seas and raising money with the annual Clifton tank pull.

JoAnn always surrounded herself with her friends and family, which she loved dearly and felt the most comfortable with. Whenever you saw JoAnn, she would greet you with a ton of energy, a hug, and a kiss. She would genuinely care how you were doing and how you were feeling. Her vibrant aura… her smile... her laugh... and her positivity were contagious.

Beloved mother of Maria Maciejewski and her husband Peter, Fred J. Nouri and his wife Tina and Robert Nouri. Cherished grandmother of Anne, John, Mary, Catherine, Clare, Elizabeth and Paul Maciejewski and Freddie, Vincent and Rosalie Nouri. Dear sister of Louis Monaco and his wife Teresa and Grace Matturri and her husband Peter. JoAnn will be greatly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, cousins, her best friend, DonnaMarie El-Hassan and her family, and the entire extended Nouri family.
