Jennie "Jean" (Kitchan) Melnik, 95, of Clifton, passed away on October 8, 2016. Born in Clifton, she was a lifelong resident.
A former parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic, Jean is a parishioner of Ss. Cyril and Methodius RC Church, Clifton. Before retiring, Jean and her late husband were the owners of Michael's Market on Ackerman Ave., in Clifton for 45 years. Jean was also a Crossing Guard for the Clifton Police Department for many years.
Beloved wife of the late Theodore who passed away in 1993. Devoted mother of Ellen Lesch and her late husband Raymond, Martha Madden and her husband John, and Theodore Frank Melnik, III, and his wife Tracey, all of Clifton. Loving grandmother of Sarah and Matthew. Dear sister of the late Helen Maliczyszyn and her husband Joseph.
Funeral Friday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at Ss. Cyril and Methodius RC Church, Clifton. Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Thursday 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
