Janie Schwartz (Glass), 80, of Nanuet, NY, passed away on August 20, 2026. Born in the Bronx, Janie was a resident of Nanuet for most of her life. She was a Junior High School teacher for the New York City Board of Education for a short time before dedicating herself to raising her two children and caring for her family.

Beloved wife of the late Stephen Gerald Schwartz for over 50 years. Loving mother to Brett Schwartz of Nanuet, Andrea Kochik and her husband Steve of Elmwood Park, NJ, and the late Melissa Schwartz who passed away in 1977. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Ryan Kochik, who brought great joy to her life. Janie was the dear sister of Marsha Glick and her husband Stuart of Kings Park, NY. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral Service Tuesday, August 25, 2026 10 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment, Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. The family will be sitting Shiva on Monday, August 24, 2026 please reach out to the family for location and times.
