Isak Shleyfman
, 86, of Nutley passed away on September 30, 2017.
Born in Gomel, Belarus (formerly the USSR), Isak came to the US in 1980 and first settled in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Clifton and later Nutley.
He was a Civil Engineer for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection for 22 years, retiring in 2003, and was a member of the Old Guard Club of Nutley.
Husband of Sofia (Levit) for 57 years. Father of sons Alex and his wife Alexandra Shneyder of Fair Lawn and Vadim and his wife Andrea Nemeth of Caldwell as well as son Vladimir of Estonia (predeceased). Grandfather of 3 and great-grandfather of 4.
Brother of Lenny of Riga, Latvia.
He loved to play checkers and chess and to play the accordion that he taught himself how to play. He loved to watch sports, particularly tennis and hockey.
