Irene Lorincz, of Phoenicia, NY, passed away on September 23, 2010. Born on September 11, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary, Mrs. Lorincz left her native land during the revolution of 1956. She happily became a US citizen in August of 1967.
Mrs. Lorincz worked as a seamstress, and lived in New Jersey, primarily in Passaic County, until she moved to the Catskill Mountains to enjoy her retirement in 2008. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garfield and afterward the First Baptist Church of Passaic. She was a long-time volunteer for St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, and knitted handmade caps and booties for the newborn babies for many years.
Pre-deceased by Andras Lorincz, her husband of 31 years, she is survived by two sisters and a brother. She was the beloved mother of Elizabeth Bottigliero and Irene Russell, grandmother to Paul, Theresa and Michele, and proud great-grandmother to her beloved great-grandson Theodore.
Funeral Service Saturday 10 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Rev. Mark Rolling, Associate Pastor, Brookdale Baptist Church, Bloomfield, Officiating. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. www.shookfh.com
