Hope Bogard Denby, 89, of Clifton passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2023 following a long battle with Dementia. She was surrounded by those she loved. Born and raised in Berwick, PA, Hope married her high school sweetheart and moved to Hatboro, PA where she worked for Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia. She later relocated to Clifton where she remained a resident for 55 years.
Hope was a longtime active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifton. A child prodigy, her passion and love for the arts later led her to a musical career as a Music Therapist with the Lincoln Park Care Center, Lincoln Park, Church Organist and Choir Director at Garfield Presbyterian Church, Garfield and Substitute Church Organist at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifton. A sweet and humble woman, Hope had a love for life's simple pleasures, a deep affection for her "fur babies" (dogs) and a passion for the earth and her home, seeing the beauty in all things big and small.
Beloved wife of the late James Anthony Denby who passed away in 2010. Devoted mother of Judy Hope Denby Amato and her husband Steven of Bell Canyon, CA, and James Richard Denby of Clifton. Cherished grandmother of Alexandra Hope Amato of Brentwood, CA, and Amanda Grace Amato of Santa Barbara, CA. Daughter of the late Edward D. Bogard and Martha Rough Bogard, Hope was the last surviving sibling predeceased by, Alice Minier, Irene Dunn, June Clewell, David Bogard, and Robert Bogard.
Hope's wishes were to be cremated and remembered as she was. Cremation was private under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, Clifton. A burial of ashes and graveside memorial will be held in her honor, Friday, February 24, 2023 at 3:00 pm at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton NJ. A private celebration of her life and memory will later follow.
Hope courageously fought an insidious disease with strength, dignity, and grace. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers in her memory.
