Henry A. Buklad, M.D., 94 of Passaic, passed away July 19, 2012. Dr. Buklad served the community of Passaic as a physician in private practice for 40 years, from 1947 until his retirement in 1987. Born in Rossford, Ohio, he grew up in Linden, graduated with honors from Seton Hall College, and graduated summa cum laude from the Medical College of Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Buklad attained the rank of U.S. Army Captain during World War II, serving with Patton's Third Army in the European Theatre and afterwards with the 58th Field Hospital in Germany. In 1947, he settled in Passaic with his wife, the late Victoria Wishnewski Buklad, who worked with him as his office manager and assistant. Known as a family physician and general practitioner, he also served on the surgery, anesthesia, and obstetrics staffs of Saint Mary's Hospital, and for many years served as Chief Medical Officer for the Passaic Board of Education. Dr. Buklad was a member of the Passaic County Medical Society and a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Passaic. He enjoyed much during his lifetime; he loved music and the arts, was a long-time subscriber to the New Jersey Symphony and the Metropolitan Opera. He enjoyed bringing his children and grandchildren to museums, concerts, and historical sites. He was an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed watching sports. He loved to travel with Victoria. He liked to read, especially about different philosophic views and liked nothing more than to engage friends and family in debate about these ideas, sometimes arguing both sides of an issue. In addition to Victoria, his son Henry A. Buklad, Jr. predeceased him. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ann Buklad Baum of Wayne a son, John Buklad of Passaic, and 5 grandchildren, 4 great granddaughters, and 1 great- great granddaughter. Funeral Thursday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Passaic. Entombment, St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.
