Helen B. Talaniec, 64, of Clifton passed away on March 12, 2023. Born in Passaic on May 27, 1958, Helen was a resident of Clifton for many years. Helen worked as a librarian for the Clifton Public Library, Allwood Branch, for many years before retiring. She loved nature, whether being at the ocean or in the mountains. She also loved all animals, especially cats, and her hobbies included cooking, baking, skiing, sewing, creating pysanky, swimming and ice skating. She enjoyed listening to classic rock from the 1970's, especially Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac. Her dear friend Lesya and her husband and son have a rock band who play often in the Poconos, and Helen really enjoyed attending their shows.

She was very creative and artistic and in her spare time she loved to go to festivals and craft shows. Two of her favorite festivals were attending the Ukrainian Festival in Whippany and the annual Garlic Festival in Easton, PA. Although she was born in the US, she was still very connected to her Ukrainian roots and culture. Currently, with the war going on in Ukraine, she was eager to lend a helping hand in any way that she could and was very active in raising funds, supplies and gear to send to the front lines.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Talaniec. Loving sister of Leonid "Lenny" Bulya and his wife Liliya Sikyrynska. Aunt of Roksolana Sikyrynska. Helen will be missed by her extended family including her Uncle Nick Bulatow and his wife Susan, and Uncle Alex Bulatow and his wife Nancy, and cousins Chris and Bobby Bulatow. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Lidia and Vasyl Bulya. She will be missed by her loving feline companions, Oliver and Hunter.

Visiting Wednesday 4 – 8PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Thursday 10AM at the funeral home and 11AM at Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Clifton. Interment, St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, South Bound Brook.
