Obituary

Helen (Boykas) Mouchka, 84, passed away on March 7, 2011 at the Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains, NJ after a long illness. Helen was born on May 18, 1926 in Garfield, NJ to Theodore and Justina Boykas.

Helen received a secretarial business degree from the Katharine Gibbs School and held various positions in the North Jersey business labor force before managing and eventually owning the family-built and operated Pink Shell Motel in North Wildwood, NJ. Later, Helen and partners founded and operated the Holly Beach Travel Club, an off-season Jersey Shore vacation option for senior citizens. Helen was a respected member of the business community in South Jersey and sold the motel operation in 1988. She took up private residence in Cape May shortly thereafter. After retirement she enjoyed traveling the country with friends and relatives and spending time on the beach.

Beloved wife for almost 40 years of the late Jerry C. Mouchka Jr. Devoted mother of Kenneth and his wife Mary Ann of Portland, OR, Kathryn White and her husband Jonathan of Plymouth, MA, and the late Geri Ann Kroon. Loving mother-in-law of Larry Kroon and his wife Diane of Van Hornsville, NY. Cherished grandmother of Gregory, Alexander, Evan-Christiaan, Lindsay and Laura. Dear sister of the late John Boykas and his wife Rose Key Boykas of Rochelle Park, NJ. Dear aunt of John Boykas of Kinnelon, NJ and Paul Boykas of Chicago, IL. Cherished stepdaughter of the late Mildred Boykas.

The 40th day Parastas/Panichida will be held for Helen on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at St. Johns Russian Orthodox Church, 29 Weaver Street, Little Falls (Singac), NJ. Divine Liturgy will begin at 9 AM with Parastas to follow at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
