Gloria Marie Corneliess, a lifelong resident of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the age of 91. Gloria was the long-standing matriarch of a boisterous family, by whom she will be dearly missed. After the death of her husband of 53 years, Adrian J. Corneliess, in 2009, Gloria firmly maintained the family unit as it grew, shrank, and grew even more. Her home will forever be remembered as a place that children could grow, leave, and return with their own growing families again and again. She often looked on as her living room filled with torn-apart gift wrap on Christmas Eve, her basement filled with the laughter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her backyard became the field of play and competition for adults and children alike. Above all things, Gloria was what every family needs the person at its helm to be: steady. She never stumbled, no matter what highs and lows life brought. She is forever loved by the family she so faithfully and steadily guided.

A woman of quiet and unwavering faith, Gloria was born to Mario and Jenny Sammarco. She is predeceased by two sons, Glenn and Kevin Corneliess, and her husband of 53 years, Adrian J. Corneliess. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Charles Marcino, her sister, Joan Paolucci, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

We will be honoring her life on Friday, May 2nd 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Shook Funeral Home in Clifton with a 12:00 p.m. funeral mass at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Clifton. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
