Gertrude Hall (DeGroot), 83, of Palmyra, Pa., formerly of Clifton, passed quietly from this life on Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Columbia Cottage Assisted Living in Palmyra, Pa.

Born in Clifton, the daughter of Frank J. and Henrietta (Luersema) DeGroot, she lived in Clifton for 81 years before moving to Palmyra, Pa. in 2008. Trudy was employed by Hynes Electric Heating Co., Kenilworth, as an office worker and billing clerk for l5 years before retiring in 1990. Earlier she was employed by Curtiss Wright Corp., Fairfield as a billing clerk for 10 years. Her favorite hobby was knitting, and everyone received baby blankets, sweaters and hats and Christmas stockings that were hand-made. Trudy also enjoyed reading, holiday gatherings and spoiling her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John B. Hall (1996); sisters, Henrietta Van Althius and Trina Sarson, and a brother, John F. DeGroot.

Survivors include her sons, John T. Hall, and his wife, Susan, of Palmyra. Pa., formerly of Union; Kenneth H. Hall, and his wife, Linda, of Belleville; grandchildren, Kimberly A. O'Keefe, Nicole M. Hall, James J. Hall, Victoria L. Hall and Caitlin M. Hall.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton:, on Saturday, February 13, at l2noon. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Visitation Saturday Morning 10am to 12noon.
