George T. Yacykewych's Obituary
George T. Yacykewych, 79, of Clifton, passed away on June 27, 2016. Born in Harasymiw, Ukraine, he came to the US in 1950 and lived in New York City, Elmira, NY, and Passaic, NJ, before moving to Clifton in 1968.
George was a devout parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic, a US Army Veteran, a teacher for the Fair Lawn Board of Education for 27 years, a teacher for the School of Ukrainian Studies, and a member of PLAST, a Ukrainian Scouting Organization.
Beloved husband of Zwenyslawa (Putykewycz) for 48 happy years. Devoted father of Daniel of Clifton, Stephen and his wife Kimberly of Bridgewater, Daria Moccia and her husband Edward of Warren, Marta Neri and her husband Paul of Stirling, and the late Andrew (2015) and his wife Jennifer of Chatham. Loving son of the late Rev. Leo and Maria (Wilczynska) Yacykewych. Dear brother of Irene Speck and her husband Charles of Bayville and Marta Swaryczewska of Clifton. Cherished grandfather of 12.
Visiting Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Panakhyda at 6 PM. Funeral Thursday 9:30 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 212 President St., Passaic. Interment, Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Paul's Outreach NJ, 315 Self Place, South Orange, NJ 07079, www.spo.org , or St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School, 223 President St., Passaic, NJ 07055.
