George Merdo, 85, of Clifton passed away on November 2, 2011. Born in Jersey City he lived there before moving to Clifton in 1963. A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, George was an Installer for New York Telephone in NYC for 40 years, retiring 23 years ago. George was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. Beloved husband for 58 years of Eleanor (Ludwinski). Devoted father of Janice Meade and her husband Kevin of Clifton. Gregory of Pompton Lakes and Gerard of Totowa. Loving grandfather of Diane Meade of Boston. Dear brother of the late John, Elizabeth and Michael Merdo. Funeral Saturday 8 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
