Obituary

George Lucas, age 77 of Clifton, New Jersey passed away May 2, 2024. He was born on January 19, 1947 in Passaic, New Jersey to George and Mary Lucas. George was the second of six children. He resided in Clifton, New Jersey his entire life and was a graduate of Clifton High School class of 1965.

George retired from C.J. Vanderbeck and Sons, Inc. Before that he had worked for Garden State Paper as the maintenance supervisor and Fire Chief. George understood from his work experiences, the critical nature of workplace fires, and he trained at several New Jersey fire-fighting schools. George's dedication to his work and ability to improve methods and processes was appreciated by all those he worked with and for.

George loved extending his work knowledge by serving as a mechanic for the Hot Rod Hudson nationally known dragster. This relationship resulted in many years of challenging and rewarding work. His experience with cars carried over to his love for the four Corvettes he and Trudy owned over the years. And, this enjoyment could only be compared with his love for the NY Giants, a dedication that stood the test of time.

George and Trudy, his wife, volunteered with the Bergen County Cadets Drum and Bugle Corp, and he was inducted into the Cadets Hall of Fame for his many years of dedicated service, that included; bus driving, fabrication of equipment, cooking, and mentoring cadets. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife Trudy Timm Lucas and his brother Stephen.

George is survived by his brothers and sisters; Mary Ann Leone and husband Kenneth, John Lucas and wife Linda, Teresa Kasper and husband Joseph, Paul Lucas and wife Maureen. George is also survived by Aunt Barbara Filipelli. He will truly be missed by all his nieces and nephews; Susan Miller and husband Adam, Michael Leone, Jonathan Leone and wife Stephanie, Julie Barnes and husband Andrew, Tara Owens, Jeffery Lucas, Jillian Butchello and husband Dominic, Chris Kapasakis, and Daniel Lucas. He will also be missed by his five great nieces, six great nephews, and numerous cousins, as well as many close friends.

The family would like to thank all those who befriended or supported George over the years. If you knew George, you understand dedication, hard work and most of all, love for family and friends.
