George Peter Calas, 92, of Toms River, NJ passed away on September 13, 2017. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for period of service 11-12-42 to 11-11-45, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

He was a graduate of New York University, where he majored in Journalism. He worked for 35 years at Wallace & Tiernan in Belleville, NJ.  He is survived by his wife of 70 years Agnes (Houlis) Calas, daughter Christine Krenicki, son Peter Calas and his wife Ruth, 3 grandchildren; Alexa Krenicki and her husband Valter Canni, Stephanie and Sabrina Calas and one great-granddaughter Solema Canni.

Viewing will be Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, NJ. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. www.shookfh.com
