Genevieve "Jean" Yarmchuk, 102, of Clifton passed away on July 9, 2024. Born in Krakow, Poland, she traveled to the US in 1924 and first lived in Passaic then later moved to Garfield before settling in Clifton in September of 1948. An active parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, for many years, Jean was the first female Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered at the church picnics and was a member of the Leisure Club, Loaves and Fishes and the Rosary Society. Jean worked for Bernies Sportswear, Garfield, for many years before retiring.

Beloved wife of the late Plato Yarmchuk who passed away in 1998. Devoted mother of Paul Yarmchuk and his wife Linda of Bloomfield, George Yarmchuk of Clifton, and James Yarmchuk, MD, and his wife Anne of Texas. Loving grandmother of Rebekah Yarmchuk, Christina Bertrand and her husband Erick, David Yarmchuk, Jennifer Violette and her husband David, and the late Craig Yarmchuk. Cherished great-grandmother of Aaron, Emily and Dylan.

Visiting Friday, July 12, 2024, 4 – 8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Saturday, July 13, 2024, 8 AM at the funeral home and 9 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Entombment, St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi.
