Fred Kolek, 84, of Clifton, passed away on March 4, 2013. Born in Passaic, he was a lifelong resident of Clifton. A parishioner of St. Clare's RC Church, Clifton, Fred was a Butcher for Pathmark on Paulison Ave. in Clifton for 30 years, retiring in 1990. An Army Veteran during the Korean War, Fred was a member of the Passaic County Fish and Game Association, the Clifton Garden Club and the Riverview Flyers. Beloved husband for 57 years of Nancy (Gnozzio). Devoted father of Fred and his wife Cherie of Wayne, and Laura Griglak and her husband John of Woodland Park. Dear brother of Irene Breznovits of Passaic and the late Rose Beiter and Julius Kolek. Loving grandfather of Melissa, Amanda, Kristin, Ricky, Danielle and Carly. Sadly miss by his canine companion Shotzie. Funeral Friday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Clare's RC Church, Clifton. Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
