Frank Niader, 95 of Clifton and Wayne, passed away on June 11, 2026. Born May 18, 1931 in Hickory Hill, PA to Nicholas and Catherine (Muhaw) Niader, his father passed away in 1967 and his mother, a GOLD STAR MOTHER, passed away in 1992. Frank had two siblings; a sister, Olean who passed away in 1997, and a brother William, a WWII U.S. Marine who was killed in action on Okinawa on June 12, 1945 and is interred in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, HI. The family moved to Clifton in 1942, where Frank graduated Clifton High School in 1950.After graduation, he worked three years as the Assistant Director of Clifton Boys Club (1950-1953) and in November 2015 was elected into the Boys & Girls Club "Hall of Fame". Frank later worked as a truck driver for the Clifton Department of Public Works for 23 years. Frank was a well known softball player in the 1960's.
When Frank retired in 1992, he started researching his brother William's death in Okinawa and became very knowledgeable of WWII history. Through his investigative work, he contacted as many as 500 WWII Marine Veterans to discuss their experiences and reunited many to their comrades. He had been interviewed numerous times by newspaper reporters, been interviewed on NJ Television four times, and had his stories published.
Frank wrote many poems about his brother, the US Marine Corps, and GOLD STAR MOTHERS. In December 2006, Frank was honored to be invited by the Wreaths Across America Organization to place a wreath on the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" in Arlington National Cemetery, to honor his brother Bill and the U.S. Marine Corps.
Frank was the loving uncle of Barbara Clark, Cathy Lopez and William Sfetz. He was predeceased by his friend Marguerite "Margo" Ryan.
Services were private under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Frank was laid to rest alongside his family in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
