Frank M. Sardo, 82, Ret. Deputy Chief Yonkers PD, on June 8, 2009. Born in Yonkers, he lived there for 79 years before moving to Monroe Twsp., NJ in 2006. A 1943 graduate of Saunders High School, Frank enlisted in the Air Force during WW II. On September 1, 1953, Frank joined the Yonkers Police Department and rose through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. On January 10, 1972 he became Deputy Chief, a position he held until retiring in 1986, after 33 years of service. A former member of the Police Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants Association where he served as President 1971-1972, he was a member of the NY Police & Fire Retiree's Association and a former parishioner of St. Bartholomew's RC Church, Yonkers. Beloved husband for 61 years of Nancy (Viola). Devoted father of Frank and his wife Linda of East Windsor, NJ, Mark and his wife Cindy of St. Simon's Island, GA. and Carl and his wife Maria of Armonk. Dear brother of Carmella Lutz of Yonkers, Grace Galasso of Valley Cottage, and the late Joseph. Loving grandfather of Brian, Lauren, Gary, Matthew, Christina and Michael. Funeral Friday 10 AM at St. Bartholomew's RC Church. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the American Heart Association, 2550 US Hwy 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902, would be greatly appreciated
