Eugene Stephen Bednarz, 90, entered eternal rest on June 25, 2024. Born in Wallington, he was a resident of Rutherford for over 50 years. A Proud Army Veteran, Eugene worked as a self-employed general contractor for many years before retiring. He took great pride in his craftsmanship. Eugene was an avid bowler, loved watching TV westerns, playing casino video games and loved playing Santa Claus for the holidays. He also enjoyed taking Sunday rides with his family especially to the Jersey shore and visiting Holsten's for a banana split!  Most of all, he enjoyed his morning routine sharing tea and cookies with the love of his life.

Beloved husband for 66 years of Helen (Janusz) Bednarz. Devoted father of Michele Bednarz and father-in-law to her husband, Robert Seelogy, and Karen Bednarz. Cherished grandfather of Emily Gene and Sarah Michaelina Fagan. Loving brother of Joseph Bednarz, Lawrence Bednarz Jr., Lorraine Giermanski and the late Alexander, Walter, John and Chester Bednarz. Beloved Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services on Monday, July 1st, at 9:45 AM, at Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton and 11 AM at the Church of St. Anne, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Veterans Administration ( WoundedWarriorProject.org ).
