Esther Mary Doerr's Obituary
Esther Mary (Rizzo) Doerr, 87, of Clifton, passed away on February 13, 2018. Born and raised in Passaic, Esther was a graduate of Passaic High School, Class of 1948, St. Elizabeth College, Convent Station, Class of 1952, and has been a resident of Clifton for many years.
A parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton, Esther was the office manager for her husband, Dr. Alphonsus L. Doerr's medical practice, for 20 years, retiring in 1997. Active with the St. Mary's Hospital Women's Guild, Passaic, Esther was the longest living golf member at the Upper Montclair Golf Club, Clifton, where she was the Chairlady of the UMCC Lady Golfers for many years.
Beloved wife of the late Dr. Alphonsus L. Doerr, whom she met at a Sacred Heart Church Youth Dance in Clifton. Devoted mother of Dr. John, Carol, Dr. Joseph, Mary, Susan, Dr. Alphonsus, Jr., "Rick", and Debra. Loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Dear sister of Peter Rizzo.
Funeral Friday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton. Interment, Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Visiting Thursday 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to Play for P.I.N.K, UMCC, 177 Hepburn Rd., Clifton, NJ 07012, ATTN: Joanne Genoules, in memory of Esther, would be greatly appreciated.
