Ernest R. Dietel, 78, of Clifton, passed away on October 10, 2022. Born in Passaic, he was a lifelong resident of Clifton.

A parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton, Ernie retired in 2020 as Sr. Vice-president of Quality Control for PTC Therapeutics, Inc., in South Plainfield, where he worked for 10 years. Ernie had also worked for Hoffmann-LaRoche in Nutley for many years. During the Vietnam War, Ernie proudly served his country as a member of the NJ Army National Guard, 50th Armored Division, Military Police.

Beloved husband of Gloria (Garcia). Devoted father of Jeffrey and his wife Rosemary of Morris Plains, Jason of Somerset and Justin of Bloomfield. Loving grandfather of Alanna and Jennifer. Dear brother of the late Robert.

Visiting Thursday 4-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Friday 9:45 AM at the funeral home and 11 AM at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton. Cremation will be private.
