Emilio Tirado Sierra, 80 of Clifton, passed away on January 8th 2024. Emilio was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico to his parents Emilio Tirado Bonet and Victoria Sierra Marrero in 1943. Emilio entered the US army in December of 1966. He traveled to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for his basic training followed by a tour of duty in Fort Lewis, Washington. After that tour of duty Emilio returned to his home land in Puerto Rico where he built a beautiful house with his own hands and married Emilia Santiago and his first son Edrid was born.
Emilio entered military duty again in October of 1981. In his words, "I want my children to know how to speak English." Then his second son Erid was born. Between 1981 and 1988, Emilio was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado, El Paso Texas, Bamberg, Germany, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Camp Humphreys, Korea, and Ramstein Germany. Emilio worked in field artillery and had a reputation for being able to identify aircraft at long distances with 100% accuracy. He was proud of his military service. And he was proud of his Puerto Rican heritage.
Emilio is survived by his wife Emilia and his sons Edrid and Erid. Emilio was a proud Grandfather to Sebastian, Aria, Janeah, Rubén, Judah, Joseph, and Rebecca. He was also a dear brother to Ana María Tirado, Wilfredo Tirado, and the late Luis Andrés Tirado and Manolo Manuel Tirado.
Visiting Sunday, January 14, 2024 2-6 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Tuesday, January 16, 2024, 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment, Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

El 8 de enero de 2024 falleció Emilio Tirado Sierra, de 80 años, en Clifton. Emilio nació en Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, en 1943, hijo de Emilio Tirado Bonet y Victoria Sierra Marrero. Emilio ingresó al ejército de los Estados Unidos en diciembre de 1966. Viajó a fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, para su entrenamiento básico, seguido por un tiempo de servicio en Fort Lewis, Washington. Después de ese período, Emilio regresó a su tierra natal en Puerto Rico, donde construyó una hermosa casa con sus propias manos y se casó con Emilia Santiago, con quien tuvo a su primer hijo, Edrid. Emilio volvió a prestar servicio militar en octubre de 1981. En sus palabras: "Quiero que mis hijos sepan cómo hablar inglés". Luego nació su segundo hijo, Erid. Estaba orgulloso de su servicio militar y de su herencia puertorriqueña. Emilio es sobrevivido por su esposa Emilia y sus hijos Edrid y Erid. También fue un orgulloso abuelo de Sebastian, Aria, Janeah, Rubén, Judah, Joseph y Rebecca. Además, era un querido hermano de Ana María Tirado, Wilfredo Tirado y el fallecido Luis Andrés Tirado y Manolo Manuel Tirado.
