Emil V. Kazaren, 89, of Stanhope, formerly of Garfield, passed away on February 22, 2014. Born in Garfield, he lived there for over 50 years, before moving to Stanhope in 1979. A parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Passaic, Emil was an tremendous fan of both the NY Giants and the NJ Devils. Emil was an Army Veteran of WW II, having been awarded both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, was a Life Member of the American Legion, was a member of the Ridgefield Park Color Guard in the 50' & 60's, a member of the Garfield American Legion since the 70's, a member of the Garfield VFW since the 50's, and a member of the DAV. A 38 year member of the Garfield Elks, Emil served as Exalted Ruler in 1978-1979. Emil was a Shipping/Receiving Clerk for Stull Closure in Randolph for 31 years, retiring in 1997. Beloved husband for 65 years of Margaret (Boksa). Devoted father of Sharen Kazaren of Stanhope. Cherished uncle of several nieces and nephews. Loving son of the late Joseph and Mary (Sudol) Kazaren. Also predeceased by 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Funeral Wednesday 10 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment, Ss. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Visiting Tuesday 4-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Ss.
