Elsa E. Camacho Mejia, 98, of Hasbrouck Heights passed away on October 9, 2016. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Elsa came to the US in 1978. After coming to the US, she devoted herself to her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. She was a very talented self-taught seamstress making many Halloween costumes for her granddaughters. She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. She especially enjoyed visiting her family in Colombia and watching her telenovelas.

Beloved wife of the late Carlos Ruiz who passed away in 1974. Devoted mother of Nelson Ruiz and his wife Vilma Noriega of Paterson, Maria Ruiz of Hasbrouck Heights, Raquel Ruiz and her husband Damaso Barros of Paterson, and Marlon Gonzalez of Paterson. Cherished grandmother of Cathy Ruiz, Maria Huber, Jannina Oblitas and her husband Carlos, Shannen Vargas and her husband Janer, and Jelson Ruiz and his wife Yanna. Loving great-grandmother of Sydney and Kayla Fontalvo, Damien and Sofia Oblitas and Noah and Jonah Vargas. Dear sister of Hector, Celia, Ana and Antonia Camacho, all of Colombia.
