Obituary

Elizabeth (Surgent) Sedlak, 81 of Clifton passed away on March 1, 2011. Born in Udol, Czechoslovakia to her proud parents, Peter and Maria (Fecisin) Surgent, she came to the US in May of 1952 with her first son John on the Queen Elizabeth to rejoin with her husband who had arrived in the US two years earlier. The family settled in Garfield before moving to Clifton 5 years later.

Elizabeth, whose last job was with Fisher Stevens Mailing House, Clifton, and was also a homemaker through her entire working career, was a parishioner of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic, and was a member of the Choir and the Holy Rosary Society.

Beloved wife for 63 years of John, Sr. Devoted mother of John Sedlak, Jr. of Clifton and Steve Sedlak and his wife Kathy of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Cherished grandmother of Steven Michael Sedlak. Dear sister of Helen Pogranichna and Anna Sapiga, both living in the Ukraine, and the late Maria (Surgent) Fil, Peter and Stephen Surgent. Proud aunt of 8 nieces and nephews who live in the Ukraine as well as 7 nieces and nephews who reside in the US.

Funeral Saturday 8 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave. Clifton and 9 AM at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic. Interment St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with Parastas at 3 PM. www.shookfh.com
