Elisa (Ely) Payumo, 71, of Passaic passed away on April 19, 2013. Born in the Philippines, she came to the US in 1975 and settled in Passaic. A parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Passaic, she was an active leader of the Filipino American Society of Mt. Carmel Church and was honored with an award for 20+ years of Outstanding Leadership and Dedicated Service. Ely was also one of the founders of the monthly Filipino Mass at Mt. Carmel Church. She recently received the Vivere Christus Award from the Diocese of Paterson in Recognition of Outstanding Service by Bishop Arthur Serratelli. Ely worked for Block Drug, a GlaxoSmithKline company, for 22 years as a computer programmer. She graduated from University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1966. She earned an associates degree in Computer Science from William Paterson University, Wayne, in 1977. Beloved wife of Rusty Payumo, they were married February 14, 1970. Devoted mother of Oliver Payumo and his wife Susana, and Orville Payumo and his wife Marissa. Loving grandmother of Olivia (11), Ryan (7) and Sophia (3).
